Project Description
The aquatic ecosystem baseline studies for the Beetaloo Sub-basin SREBA characterised the following attributes: identification and delineation of aquatic habitats, aquatic vascular plants, fish, reptiles, macroinvertebrate species, and other significant species. This study identified areas of high conservation value and determined recommendations for ongoing monitoring. The study was led by the Northern Territory Government Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security, Flora and Fauna Division.

Abstract
This dataset contains aquatic invertebrate data collected during the SREBA Beetaloo Aquatic Ecosystems study in 2021-2022. Specifically this dataset presents occurrence records of aquatic invertebrate taxa from 40 sites that were systematically sampled. These include the aquatic and semi-aquatic families of Hemiptera (water-bugs), five aquatic families of Coleoptera (beetles), Ephemeroptera (mayflies) and chironomid Diptera, freshwater molluscs, and Decapoda (crayfish, freshwater prawns, and crabs). These data were analysed and used to inform the assessment of the aquatic ecosystem values and to determine the risks associated with the development of an onshore gas industry. This assessment is presented in the SREBA aquatic ecosystems final report.
