Project Description

The terrestrial ecosystem baseline studies for the Beetaloo Sub-basin SREBA produced a fine scale vegetation map for the study area, described the biogeographic patterns of flora and fauna in representative vegetation communities and habitat types and surveyed for target significant and sensitive fauna. These studies identified species and habitats of high conservation value, and developed recommendations for future monitoring. These studies were undertaken by the Northern Territory Government Department of Environment Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security, Flora and Fauna Division.

Abstract

This dataset contains fauna data collected during the Beetaloo SREBA Terrestrial Ecosystems study in 2021-2022. These data were collected during targeted surveys for waterbirds and five threatened species: the Crested Shrike-tit (Falcunculus frontatus whitei); Gouldian Finch (Erythrura gouldiae); Greater Bilby (Macrotis lagotis); Ghost Bat (Macroderma gigas); and Plains Death Adder (Acanthophis hawkei). These data were analysed to inform the assessment of terrestrial biodiversity values in the Study Area and risks associated with the development of an onshore gas industry.
