Project Description

The aquatic ecosystem baseline studies for the Beetaloo Sub-basin SREBA characterised the following attributes: identification and delineation of aquatic habitats, aquatic vascular plants, fish, reptiles, macroinvertebrate species, and other significant species. This study identified areas of high conservation value and determined recommendations for ongoing monitoring. The study was led by the Northern Territory Government Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security, Flora and Fauna Division.

Abstract

This dataset presents the results of aquatic ecosystems mapping for the Study Area. This includes the distribution and extent of lacustrine, palustrine, riverine and floodplain systems, and the locations of aquatic ecosystems that are considered to be dry season refugia. Details of the mapping methods and results are reported in the Aquatic Ecosystems Baseline Report.

Additional Information

Data files for the aquatic ecosystem mapping represent a compilation of:

  • Aquatic ecosystem mapping (SREBA product)
  • Refugia point locations (SREBA product)
  • Perennial mapped streams considered refugia (derived from Geofabric data)
  • Mapped streams (derived from Geofabric data)
  • Springs (derived from NTG data)
