Project Description
The methane and greenhouse gas baseline studies for the Beetaloo SREBA established a methane baseline, reference sites and a program for ongoing monitoring. To do this, the survey measured ambient methane concentrations across the region, used a basin conceptual model to rank areas of potential geological seeps, identified and characterised potential methane sources and identify indicators relevant for ongoing monitoring. This study was led by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

Abstract
This report describes the results of a regional methane survey conducted in October 2021 across the Beetaloo Sub-basin in the Northern Territory as part of the Strategic Regional Environmental and Baseline Assessment (SREBA) program. The survey covered most of the public roads in the SREBA Beetaloo study area as far south as Renner Springs and stretching from Top Springs in the west to near the edge of the SREBA Beetaloo study area on the Carpentaria Hwy to the east.
