Project Description

The aquatic ecosystem baseline studies for the Beetaloo Sub-basin SREBA characterised the following attributes: identification and delineation of aquatic habitats, aquatic vascular plants, fish, reptiles, macroinvertebrate species, and other significant species. This study identified areas of high conservation value and determined recommendations for ongoing monitoring. The study was led by the Northern Territory Government Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security, Flora and Fauna Division.

Abstract

This dataset contains aquatic data collected during the SREBA Beetaloo Aquatic Ecosystems study in 2021-2022. Specifically this dataset presents information on incidental records of water plants at sites surveyed throughout the SREBA Beetaloo study area. Eighty-four species of plants were identified from 36 families. 33 were aquatic, 33 semi-aquatic and 18 not categorised. Data were analysed and used to inform the assessment of the aquatic ecosystem values and risks associated with the development of an onshore gas industry. This assessment is presented in the SREBA aquatic ecosystems final report.
